Tunnel Simulator

The Tunnel Simulator that is developed in the course of project TUSIMA and in cooperation with INTEROFFICE GmbH  is going to make a new tool for humane conception of traffic tunnels available to traffic planners. For the first time it will be possible to include simulated human behavior into the draft of a tunnel. This allows for the possibilities of optimizing the tunnel in a completely virtual environment without real people. Therefore, the simulation comprises of 2 parts: the transit as such and the simulation of human behavior in transit.

Some of the Features of the Tunnel Simulator:

• Modular 3D geometrical modeling ( tunnel configurator )
• Replication of different illumination scenarios and equipment configurations
• Simulation of other traffic participants
• Replication of consequences of an accident ( smoke, spray mist, etc. )
• Creation of different traffic situations

The model of the human being acts on the basis of exterior conditions ( tunnel  geometry, surrounding traffic ) as well as interior motivations ( type of driver, emotional state ). These circumstances have a direct influence on the drivers steering and therefore enable the prediction of the impact of structural measures on the specific traffic participant.
